No way did I want to be on any dang pedestals. I used to pay them the currency to catch me in a mistake. I had to keep plenty of that currency on hand to cover my tracks. :)Mark O'Neillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16295762252612104201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5664760701202151470.post-22788928722217491302012-02-09T08:40:06.150-08:002012-02-09T08:40:06.150-08:00What a vivid piece--and as others have pointed out...What a vivid piece--and as others have pointed out, the truth at its core is much appreciated as well. It is one of those lessons that many people have to learn more than once. I have coworkers and clients who are endlessly surprised when I say, "Yep, I messed up. It was my fault. Let's figure out how to fix it." For me, it's partly a natural mental wiring thing, partly a lesson learned long ago, and partly just plain laziness. I've found owning up to be the most energy-efficient path without exception.Masked Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08197019009052401812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5664760701202151470.post-1469734414713917402012-02-07T20:32:57.433-08:002012-02-07T20:32:57.433-08:00Judy - you have the perfect image - Rawhide! He has such a distinctive whistle, that when I was 16 and at a convention in San Antonio with 16000 other kids my age, I was walking along the River Walk with my best friend and two boys and without even realizing it, I had whipped my head around to where my parents were eating lunch on the other side of the river - Dad having whistled and I responded without even realizing it. (My parents were there as my dad was a tour bus driver at the time and he drove us down and mom tagged along).Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12179950137275247571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5664760701202151470.post-66684191881944503392012-02-07T06:58:02.508-08:002012-02-07T06:58:02.508-08:00Pertinent points about the interrogation process. ...Pertinent points about the interrogation process. As I said to JT the other morning, when she tried to "walk on water" and feared the aftermath, the anticipation was always worse than the event. The longer we made with the palaver, the less severe the ultimate "punishment."Mark O'Neillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16295762252612104201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5664760701202151470.post-87641843588760686202012-02-07T04:53:05.881-08:002012-02-07T04:53:05.881-08:00Funny, as you described what happened I could hear...Funny, as you described what happened I could hear the scared little boy in your writing voice. Haven't we all been caught with our hand in the cookie jar? <br />I wonder if you would have been able to recall the incident in such detail, if your father had simply said, "Mark, someone touched the door jamb while the paint was still wet." Luckily I was able to repair it.
