Keep Your Seatbelt Fastened

Keep Your Seatbelt Fastened

“Please keep your seatbelt fastened until the ride comes to a complete halt.”

That was my big mistake: I unfastened my seatbelt, probably to slip outside for a quick bong rip, and when the ride surged and dipped, I fell off. Or out, or down or whatever it was I did earlier this week to address the angst I felt inside me, at seeing a mockery made of the presidency.
I don't always act like an asshole, but when I do,
you can assume I am defending the Constitution.
Uncharacteristically (as is a word with eight syllables), I lashed out at now-former friends on social media, once the ban had been announced, friends who continued to spew pro-trump blather. I merely asked folks to unfriend me, if they still supported trump.

When hammered by the argument that I should not let “politics” get in the way of friendships, I responded that the situation had now gone far beyond politics; it was now about humanity, and the guaranteeing of human rights.

I remain profoundly impacted by the ban, the attempt to sell off federal lands, the twenty executive orders in the first ten days, the habitual kowtowing to narcissistic impulses, the petulance, the refusal to listen to advisors, the collaboration with Russia, the Wall, and most powerfully, by the insertion of wife beater and white supremacist Steve Bannon, to the National Security Council, as chief strategist.
Bannon, wife-beater, white supremacist

Like millions of others, I view Bannon as an Enemy of the State because of his racist ideology. He has been right up front; he is a white supremacist. His first action was to initiate the ban. Under normal circumstances, this man would not even be allowed within six blocks of the White House, let alone appointed its chief strategist.

I see Bannon running the show while trump focuses on what matters most: ratings. If trump were focused on the ratings of his presidency, he might notice that he has the worst ones of all time for a new President. Unfortunately, those are not the ratings that trump notices.

So yeah, I went postal and criticized those who were still supporting this fraud. They say one never looks good, while trying to make another feel bad, but it sure FELT good. It’s like this, I don’t always act like an asshole, but when I do, it’s when I am defending the Constitution.

trump’s legacy? “I don’t always contradict myself, but when I do, I don’t.” donald trump

Being an asshole is not the mantle I want to bear, but I’m not skeered either. Now, I was scared there for a minute, and I am still petrified at the thought of Bannon anywhere but in jail, but I am feeling better by the minute with the reaction-so far-that has been almost knee-jerk.

Opposition to the above-mentioned threats, especially the ban, the absconding of federal lands, the Wall and the collaboration with Russia, has been instantaneous, as these things go. The wheels of justice turn slowly, normally, but in this case, it is enough to know that when the actions of a despot are that extreme, the people will rise up, united, and they will be listened to.

There is already action underway to hold trump accountable for his illegal foundation, plus the fact that he had the trump Foundation present him with gifts. That is one straw that we can use to keep the drink stirred, the one that will allow us to cope with the nightmare that has descended on us like a black plague.

Millions of people have been disrespected and have had their rights ripped away from them by this childish man, who makes Richard Nixon look like Mother Teresa. People have died. I don’t feel good about taking an incendiary stance, but the Constitution is already burning, and the best way to fight fire, is with fire.

It’s also devilishly hard to keep one’s seatbelt fastened, when the place is on fire.
